What is foramen of lushka?

The foramen of Luschka (also known as lateral apertures) are two openings located in the roof of the fourth ventricle of the brain. They allow for the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from the ventricles of the brain to the subarachnoid space surrounding the brain and spinal cord. The foramen of Luschka are named after the German anatomist Hubert von Luschka, who first described them in 1858. Dysfunction or blockage of the foramen of Luschka can lead to hydrocephalus, a condition where excessive fluid accumulates in the brain, causing pressure and damage to surrounding tissues.
